PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The scope of the project entailed the visual inspection and assessment of existing expansion joints and bridge bearings of strategic long-span bridges on N1, N2 and the R300 in SANRAL’s Western Cape Region. The expansion joints and bearings had to be replaced under normal traffic conditions, which required detailed analysis and design to ensure that the structural behavior of these bridges remained within acceptable limits.
